Abstract
This paper presents the results of research focused on the architectural decoration and the architecture of the forum-basilica complex of Doclea in Montenegro. The first excavations at the site were carried out during archaeological missions led by P. Rovinsky and J. A. R. Munro in the late 19th c. The monograph published by P. Sticotti in 1913 still represents the main source of information for the early excavations. That research identified the public area, consisting of a quadrangular forum flanked by a basilica on the west side, overlooking the decumanus maximus, a large bath complex, two temples, and a private house. Unfortunately, the basilica and forum were used as sources of materials for nearby buildings, and many architectural pieces have been removed, destroyed, or repurposed. Limited excavation data complicates an understanding of the history of the city, but the analysis of architectural fragments offers valuable insights into the construction phases and use of the main buildings.*
