Determination of hydraulic conductivity and transport simulation of nitrogen compounds in the Hydrus 1D program : master’s thesis

Predmet istraživanja ovog diplomskog rada je pomoću određenih parametara tla s lokacije Velika Gorica odrediti hidrauličku vodljivost empirijskim formulama i Rosetta-Lite programom. Osim navedenog, modelirani su tok vode i transport dušičnih spojeva (amonijak, nitriti i nitrati) kroz tlo pomoću programa HYDRUS-1D s i bez nitrifikacijskog lanca. Ulazni parametri za određivanje hidrauličke vodljivosti pomoću empirijskih formula su očitani s konstruiranih granulometrijskih krivulja. Dobiveni su slijedeći rasponi hidrauličke vodljivosti: Almayani-Sen od 0,125 do 4,316 cm/dan, Breyer od 0,067 do 5,55 cm/dan, Hazen od 0,05 do 5,89 cm/dan, Kozeny-Carman od 0,022 do 5,641 cm/dan, Slichter od 0,01 do 1,93 cm/dan, Terzaghi od od 0,014 do 3,368 cm/dan, USBR od 3,14 do 3,56 cm/dan, te Rosetta-Lite od od 19,1 do 33,89 cm/d. Simulacija transporta dušičnih spojeva pokazala je da kod transporta pojedinih spojeva amonijevi ioni zbog velikog koeficijenta distribucije imaju veliku tendenciju sorpcije te je njihov transport vrlo usporen. Nitriti i nitrati egzistiraju uglavnom otopljeni u vodi te je njihov transport zbog toga puno brži. Kod simulacije transporta dušičnih spojeva s lancem nitrifikacije pokazalo se da amonijevi ioni dodatno imaju smanjen transport zbog pretvorbe u nitrite koji se vrlo brzo pretvaraju u nitrate.The goal of this research was to determine the soil hydraulic conductivity from the Velika Gorica site using empirical equations and the Rosetta-Lite program. Furthermore, water flow and nitrogen compounds transport (ammonia, nitrates and nitrites) models were created using the HYDRUS 1D program. The hydraulic conductivity shows different ranges. The hydraulic conductivity calculated using Almayani-Sen equation varies from 0.125 to 4.316 cm/day, Breyer from 0.067 to 5.55 cm/day, Hazen from 0.05 to 5.89 cm/day, Kozeny-Carman from 0.022 to 5.641 cm/day, Slichter from 0.01 to 1.93 cm/day, Terzaghi from 0.014 to 3.368 cm/day, USBR from 3.14 to 3.56 cm/day. Rosetta-Lite software calculated the conductivity in the range from 19.1 to 33.89 cm/day. Nitrogen compounds transport model shows that during the transport of individual compounds, ammonium ions have high tendency of sorption due to their distribution coefficient. Nitrates and nitrites mainly existed leached in water and their transport was faster
