Aronia insect pest monitoring in Gornji Vakuf-Uskoplje area
2018
Aronia (Aronia melanocarpa Michx.) is a perennial bush from family Rosaceae. Aronia is an resistant and adaptable plant that can be successfully cultivated in areas of harsh continental climate and soils that are not suitable for growing other fruit trees. This paper presents the results of insect pest monitoring in two aronia orchards in area of Gornji Vakuf, during 2017. The monitoring was conducted with hand-made traps and visual examination of the plants. Special attention was given to the appearance of a new insect pest with potential for significant damage - Drosophila suzukii. Six species from the family Drosophilidae were found in the research, and a smaller number of insects from the order Heteroptera. There was no evidence of damaged plants. Some insects founded in this research were not pests, part of the recorded insects on the aronia were not plant pest, and there were carnivore insects Nabis rugosus and species from the Asilidae family. Since no damage from insect pests had been recorded in the research, aronia could be successfully grown in ecological production
