Hydrological data interpretation of Ombla river : master's thesis

Izvor rijeke Omble nalazi se na samom jugu Republike Hrvatske, u Dubrovačko-neretvanskoj županiji. Izvorište Ombla je tipično krško izvorište nastalo na kontaktu karbonatnih naslaga navučenih na debeli kompleks eocenskih flišnih naslaga. Zadatak ovog diplomskog rada bio je obraditi 6-godišnji niz protoka podataka iz razdoblja od 2008. do 2013. godine, te dobivene rezultate usporediti s ranijima. Usporedba se provela na nizu srednjih godišnjih protoka i na osnovi krivulja trajanja srednjih dnevnih protoka, te za velike i male vode na osnovi raspodjele ekstremnih godišnjih protoka. Zaključeno je da se veličine maksimalnih i minimalnih protoka Omble u novijem razdoblju nisu značajno promijenile u odnosu na ranije razdoblje. Bez obzira na promjene osnovnih uvjeta otjecanja na slivu i značajnog smanjivanja prirodnih dotoka vode, prema pokazateljima veličina srednjih protoka i trendova razmatranih nizova srednjih godišnjih protoka, vodnost Omble se u novijem razdoblju (2008.-2013.) poboljšala u odnosu na ranije stanje (1993.-2007.).Abstract: Source of the Ombla river is located in the very south of Croatia, in the Dubrovnik-Neretva County. Water source Ombla is typical karst wellspring that appears in the area of carbonate sediment above thick compleks of the Eocene flysch layers. The aim of this paper was to process data of 6 years flow discharge in the period between 2008- 2013, and to compare obtained results with earlier given data. The comparison was conducted between mean annual discharge, based on the flow-duration curve of mean daily discharge for high water and low water based on extreme annual discharge. Compared to the earlier given data the Ombla's maximum and minimum discharges were not significantly changed in the observed period. Regardless of changes in basic conditions of catchment area and notable reduction of natural inflow, based on mean discharge and trends in observed series of mean annual discharge, the Ombla's mean annual discharge elevated in regard to previous years
