Perception and Attitudes of Courier Service Deliverers in the Republic of Serbia
2025
Delivery of goods in cities represents an important prerequisite for the functioning of everyday life. The COVID-19 pandemic has changed consumer behaviour and encouraged a shift to online shopping, which continues to grow steadily worldwide. In this context, a study was conducted to examine the perceptions and attitudes of 104 courier service delivery workers in Serbia. The research shows that delivery workers are predominantly young men living in urban areas, often combining delivery work with student or regular employment, with most holding a driving license for more than two years. They most commonly use passenger and light commercial vehicles to deliver food and other products within both central and wider urban zones, mostly covering short distances per delivery. They rate traffic safety as average, while congestion and the tolerance of other road users pose moderate challenges, which is why most respondents prefer passenger vehicles as the most reliable means of delivery, reflecting a focus on efficiency and safety in carrying out daily deliveries.
